A suspect was arrested as part of a homicide investigation opened following the discovery of a corpse in Anderlecht on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday last. A 24-year-old man presented himself to the police on Friday and was placed under an arrest warrant for murder by the investigating judge. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office confirmed this information from La Capitale. In the meantime, the prosecution is still looking for witnesses of the facts.

The body of a 29-year-old man, identified by investigators, was found dead near the Peterbos park, near the rue de la Prose in Anderlecht around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. According to the prosecution, his death was violent. An investigating judge has been appointed and the investigation placed in the care of the federal judicial police.

“The victim was wearing black pants, a dark gray t-shirt, a black puffer jacket and a pair of black sneakers”, detailed Friday the call for witnesses broadcast by the police. The victim “drove aboard a Suzuki Swift registered 2-DNW-462, which she had parked on Boulevard de la Grande Ceinture, opposite No. 29”.

The police are still looking for anyone who witnessed or saw or heard a suspicious situation at the time.

According to several media, the drama might arise from a territorial struggle between criminal gangs for drug trafficking.
