The Vasileostrovsky District Court arrested until February 17, 2024 Rustam Lakashiya, suspected of beating a disabled person who was a participant in a special operation in Ukraine. About this on Wednesday, December 20, reported United press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.

His case was considered yesterday, but he felt unwell – an ambulance was called to court. The first suspect, Irakli Munchav, was also arrested until February 17 next year.

As stated in the press service of the courts, they are suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism).

Fontanka reported that a 40-year-old man who was walking with his wife along an alley on the evening of December 18 was attacked by two from a Lexus. The trigger was a comment regarding parking on the sidewalk. Judging by the video, they were punching and kicking. As a member of the SVO said, they did not admit guilt.

There was no time to bring charges of gross violation of public order. The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, watched the video of the beating and ordered a report first, and then requested an operational report and an inspection “for the purpose of public actions by migrants aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.” In St. Petersburg, the case was reclassified as attempted murder.

According to our information, both defendants have Russian citizenship.

As the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg reported on December 20, both defendants are charged with inciting hatred on ethnic grounds. The case under Article 282 of the Criminal Code is being processed by the investigative department for the Vasileostrovsky district.
