“We are very calm.” These were the first words of the president of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, entering his home in Genoa while responding to reporters who asked him for a comment on the judicial storm that hit him, with his arrest for corruption.

And it is a “colleague” governor, Francesco Rocca, who expresses his opinion on the matter on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new machinery for intensive care at the Ao San Camillo in Rome: “It is sad news, the usual phrase is let’s wait for the judiciary take its course because we must respect the decisions of the judiciary. I have only one thought, if it were confirmed that these are events of 2020, an arrest 25 days before the European elections…Honestly, after 4 years, what changed a month before or a month after the elections? This leaves me thinking.”

In addition to those of Toti, there are also the words of Stefano Savi, his lawyer: “President Toti is currently calm and convinced that he can explain everything. The Region will continue to work even in his absence. These are facts for which we can give an explanation because they fall within the scope of legitimate administrative activity.”
