Before the winter vacation, the Metropolitan Police Department conducted a simultaneous guidance around Kabukicho, commonly known as “To-yoko”, which is known as a place where junior high school students and high school students gather.
About four years ago, junior high school and high school students began to gather around a large commercial building in the center of Kabukicho, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, commonly known as “To-yoko”, and there have been cases where they have been involved in incidents. Police are stepping up their measures.
Before the winter vacation, regarding 100 people, including police officers, called out to young people gathering on the street to make sure there were no minors, and that no trouble had occurred. I looked around.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, in this simultaneous guidance, a total of 20 people, including junior high and high school students, were guided.
In principle, students who have been guided are sent home following contacting their parents, except when abuse at home is suspected, but there are cases where they return repeatedly.
For this reason, the Metropolitan Police Department is focusing on providing support following conducting an interview with a “psychological staff” who has specialized knowledge of psychology and, if necessary, providing guidance such as connecting to a specialized consultation desk. That’s it.
