The flights will be direct and Ryanair, which will operate them, has already put tickets on sale for the first flight on November 2 this year.
Prices for a basic one-way ticket start from 35 euros.
Birmingham has a population of 1,085,400 and is the fourth largest tourist destination in the UK.
“Interest in the airline is also expected from Bulgarians living in the Birmingham area, as well as from our compatriots who want to go there for vacation. for tourism purposes,” commented Plovdiv Airport Executive Director Doychin Angelov.
“The new line is possible thanks to the active communication between the airport staff and the airline and the assistance of the Development Fund – Southern Gate of Bulgaria,” said Doychin Angelov.
At the moment, the Plovdiv Airport Development Fund expects the resumption of flights from Manchester to the city, and from the beginning of next year, direct flights from the city of Malaga in southern Spain will also appear. Negotiations are also underway to open direct flights from Vienna, Madrid, Brussels and Marseille to Plovdiv.
Until now, 12 weekly flights from London, Belfast and Manchester were operated from Plovdiv Airport.
