Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Customs Trouble and Open Heart Surgery: The Inside Story

Customs officers first recognized the American actor and made him open his luggage. Unfortunately for Schwarzenegger, who was to continue his journey to Kitzbühel in Austria, the officers found a valuable watch in his suitcase that had not been declared to customs.

Arnold Schwarzenegger recounts his 3rd open heart operation: “The doctors made a big mistake, it was a disaster”

The object, considered to have been imported into Europe, earned the 76-year-old actor an interrogation, as well as a fine and the opening of criminal proceedings for tax evasion. Schwarzenegger explained to customs officials that he was carrying the watch because he had to sell it at auction during a dinner organized this Thursday in the ski resort of Kitzbühel to benefit climate projects. But that didn’t appease the customs officers and the American had to pay a hefty bill.

In fact, the price of the watch was estimated at 26,000 euros by the German authorities, a sum to which 4,000 euros in taxes and a 5,000 euro fine were added. In total, “Schwarzie” had to pay 35,000 euros, which he was prepared to pay by bank card. But our colleagues from Bild point out that the law stipulates that at least 50% of the sum must be paid in cash… Schwarzenegger, who did not have this amount, was escorted to a bank by a customs officer, in order to collect the requested tickets.

After three hours of procedure, “Terminator” was finally able to leave the airport and continue its journey.
