Army truck overturns on China border, 16 soldiers killed

New Delhi: 16 soldiers killed in an army truck accident in Sikkim. The accident took place in Sema in North Sikkim. Three junior commissioned officers and 13 soldiers died.

One of the three trucks heading towards Thangu overturned on the hillside. Four soldiers were airlifted to hospital. Their injuries are serious.

The accident happened in the morning in Sema region of North Sikkim. The truck was completely destroyed by the impact of the accident. It is clear from the pictures released by the army that many parts of the vehicle are in tattered condition.

The Prime Minister and the Defense Minister expressed deep grief over the incident. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the country will always be indebted to the services of the brave soldiers who died.

The Army released an official press release confirming the incident. The army said that the accident took place at Sema in the North Sikkim region, which shares the border with China.

One of the three army trucks which was going from Chaten in North Sikkim to Thangu was involved in the accident. The incident happened at eight o’clock in the morning. The truck skidded and overturned into a ravine while taking a curve on a hill in the Sema region.

The army said that the rescue operation started at the spot and the four injured people were shifted to the hospital by helicopter.
