The second sergeant of the army John Gabriel Chachinoy it was kidnapped near the municipality of Tambo, Cauca, when he was traveling on a public service bus.

According to an Army statement, the petty officer was on leave when moving over the sector known as El Hoyo, located between the municipalities of The Tambo and the Patía, in the department of Cauca.
“Plainclothes who carried small arms and who identified themselves as members of the residual armed group Carlos Patiño They stopped the bus and that’s when they kidnapped our petty officer,” the institution said.
The members of the armed group they got the petty officer out of the vehicle and ordered the bus driver to continue his path.
Other belongings of the non-commissioned officer that are in the possession of the authorities were left in the car’s hold.
The Army indicated that, in coordination with the competent authorities in the region, immediately activated a search device. “In the same way, the internal protocols for accompanying the family of our uniformed officer were initiated,” he added.
The institution rejected the action, considering it a “flagrant violation of human rights and infringement of international humanitarian law,” and announced that it had already filed a complaint with the competent authorities. In addition, respect for his life and his release were demanded.
“We consider this criminal action unacceptable, ratifying that our military was in a state of defenselessness; We demand respect for his life and his immediate release so that he can return to his family,” he concluded.
