Armistice Day 2022: What’s Closed and What’s Open in Belgium

2023-11-10 18:40:00

This Saturday, November 11 will be the Armistice. It is a public holiday in Belgium and some businesses and services will not open their doors.

Banks will remain closed, as will all municipal administrations in the country. Post offices will not be accessible either, apart from post points located in stores that decide to open. If you want to buy medicines or other pharmaceutical products you will not be able to since the pharmacies will remain closed. In the event of an emergency, you will need to go to an on-call pharmacy.

Most supermarkets will be closed. To do your shopping, you will need to go to stores which generally remain open on Sundays and public holidays. Cora, Aldi, Lidl, Makro, Colruyt and Okay will not be accessible. Some Carrefour and Delhaize stores will remain open. Check store websites to find out if they remain open or not.

As for public transport, in Brussels, the Stib will follow the weekend schedule. Furthermore, trams 92 and 93 will not run between Louise and Botanique until 12:30 p.m. At the same times, bus lines 29, 63, 65 and 66 will be diverted between Madou and Gare Centrale.

On the rail side, SNCB trains will run like weekends. In Wallonia, with the TEC, you will need to find out regarding public holiday schedules.
