Scherning is not a new face at Bielefeld, having previously coached the club’s second team from 2012 to 2016.

He then worked as an assistant coach at SC Paderborn from 2016 to 2021. Head coach was Steffen Baumgart (50) from 2017 to 2021, together they even reached the Bundesliga.

Until recently, Scherning was the head coach of VfL Osnabrück in the 3rd division. Now he is moving to Arminia. There he received a contract until 2024.
