Information about the invitation to the Armenian national teams of Tokyo Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Artur Dalaloyan and silver medalist of the European Championship in single skating Artur Danielyan is not true. This was stated by the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Armenia Hrachya Rostomyan, who is quoted by “RIA Novosti”.
“This information is absurd and complete empty talk. I didn’t even have to talk about this, but I consider it necessary to clarify the situation in order to avoid misunderstandings,” Rostomyan said, noting that from a legal point of view, the NOC has no right to invite athletes to Armenia.

Rostomyan also said that the national gymnastics team is already strong. “They are one of the best in the world. A few days ago in honor of Artur Davtyan in Turkey [на чемпионате Европы] the anthem of our country sounded, the same thing happened at the youth world championship. Why should an NOC be interested in athletes representing other countries?” Rostomyan added.
On the eve of the portal Metaratings informedthat the NOC of Armenia invited Dalaloyan and Danielyan to go under the flag of the country, but was refused. Information about Dalaloyan’s invitation also confirmed Senior coach of the Russian national gymnastics team Valentina Rodionenko.
Dalaloyan at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, together with Nikita Nagorny, David Belyavsky and Denis Ablyazin, won the first gold medal for Russian gymnasts since 1996 in the team championship. Danielyan is the silver medalist of the European Championship and the Russian Championship in 2020.
Earlier this year, Lokomotiv Moscow football player Nair Tiknizyan, ex-football player of the youth national team of Russia Eduard Bagrintsev, boxer Murat Gassiev received Armenian citizenship.
