Armenia is about to depart the Russian analogue of NATO

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated the nation would withdraw from the Collective Safety Treaty Group (CSTO), the de facto Russian-controlled navy alliance believed to be designed to counter NATO.

Pashinyan acknowledged this on June 12 throughout a speech in parliament, reported “Radio Azatutyun“.

When requested by an opposition deputy regarding the potential of leaving the CSTO, Pashinyan stated that some members of this alliance didn’t fulfill their treaty obligations and “deliberate a conflict towards us along with Azerbaijan.”

“We are going to depart (the CSTO). We are going to resolve when,” added the Armenian Prime Minister.

He famous that Yerevan doesn’t intend to return to the CSTO: “Do you suppose we are going to return? No, there isn’t any different approach. Don’t fear, we won’t return.”

This isn’t the primary time Nikol Pashinyan has criticized the alliance.

Final month, he stated that at the least two member states of the Collective Safety Treaty Group had been truly serving to Azerbaijan put together for the conflict towards Armenia that started in 2020.

Journalists had been later hinted that we had been speaking regarding Russia and Belarus.
