An unknown man armed with a firearm robbed a bank branch in Kufstein, Tyrol, on Thursday followingnoon. The masked perpetrator then fled in an unknown direction, police said. A major manhunt involving numerous police patrols from Austria and Germany as well as a helicopter was underway. Until the evening, it was unclear whether the man had stolen anything, as was the exact course of the crime. There were no injuries.

According to police, the attack occurred at 3:45 p.m. The man was wearing black shoes, a black jacket and a white hoodie. He was described as being around 1.70 meters tall and is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. He is said to have had a handgun with him and spoke in English with a foreign accent. The police asked for information.

This is now the second bank robbery in Kufstein within a short period of time. It was only in November that an armed stranger managed to steal money from another bank branch and then go into hiding. The perpetrator was also masked and he silently demanded that the cash be handed over. There has been no trace of him since then.
