The village of Sart-lez-Spa (Jalhay), usually very quiet, came alive on Saturday evening. Several police cars, an ambulance and armed officers were called because of the presence of an armed man, entrenched in his house, reports RTL Info. It was his wife who allegedly called the police around 9 p.m., following leaving the home with her children.
According to the mayor of the town, Michel Fransolet, the police surrounded the house to get the madman out, but nothing came of it. The man had actually left and he was finally found a few hours later thanks to the federal police helicopter, called in for reinforcement. He was in a wood near his home, and was “heavily armed”, according to our colleagues.
