Today, Tuesday, the Egyptian Armed Forces issued a statement regarding the run-over incident in the Madinaty residential community in the capital, Cairo.
And the official page of the military spokesman for the armed forces on Facebook stated: “Within the framework of the armed forces’ keenness to clarify the facts for public opinion regarding the incident of a residential community in New Cairo, without prejudice to the progress of the ongoing investigations by the competent judicial authorities.”
And she added: “Report No. (22/23) was issued on 7/1/2023 military misdemeanours, the First Settlement Police Department, regarding the incident, and the Military Prosecution proceeded with the investigations, and it was recorded in Case No. (170/2023) “military felonies” east of Cairo, and the accused was charged with crimes. “Intentional and attempted murder,” and it was decided to remand him pending the case, and he is being referred to the Military Criminal Court.
And she continued, “The armed forces affirm their full respect for the principle of the rule of law. They also extend their sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, and wish a speedy recovery for the injured.”
A team of detectives moved to the location of the incident, and it was found that an angel car ran over a family consisting of a father, a mother, and their three children, resulting in the death of the mother, who worked as a pharmacist, following suffering a brain hemorrhage.
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior denied, earlier, that the perpetrator of the collision was a police officer.
