Arm and leg toddler (1.5) still rescued after dog attack, police find drugs in father’s home

After the public prosecutor of Kortrijk previously reported that the boy had lost an arm and a leg following a serious biting incident with the dog of the house, the toddler now appears to be able to keep all limbs. The boy was transferred to UZ Gent for emergency surgery.

There, following a long operation late Wednesday evening, they succeeded in saving the toddler’s arm and leg. Dad’s thumb would also not have been amputated following the biting incident.

Immediately following the facts, the police did find just under two kilograms of cannabis, an amount of cocaine and regarding 4,000 euros in cash in the dad’s home. Quantities that clearly indicate the use and sale of drugs. Whether that would have played a role in the dog’s particularly aggressive behavior is not yet clear.

The Stafford was put to sleep by a veterinarian shortly following the fact, with the mother’s consent.
