The Ariel Hipercar is the latest “mischief” being worked on by the famous British manufacturer that has become world-renowned for its Atom, an extreme supercar with an exposed tubular chassis and mid-engine.

Four electric motors

There are four electric motors in total, one per wheel. They are powered by a 62 kWh battery placed under the floor of the two-seater dry cab and deliver 295 hp each, for a total value of 1,180 hp (the company is also working on a less powerful two-wheel-drive version).

record performance

At the moment, the Ariel Hipercar is “only” a prototype. Results? They have not yet been tested by telemetry, but they promise to be a real record: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 2 seconds and sprint from standstill to 160 km/h in less than 5 seconds.

Autonomy to be verified

The electric drivetrain was presented as sufficient to travel around 240 km, with the range being only “theoretical” when racing on the track. Precisely for this, a special autonomy extension system was devised, consisting of a turbine, capable of reaching 110,000 rpm.

Turbine intervention

The result of the intervention of the turbine, which is activated automatically through the battery management software or manually from the cabin, is to add another 50 hp. The 35-litre tank system can also be fueled with e-fuel and hydrogen to minimize emissions.

And the dimensions?

The Ariel Hipercar is 4.30 m long, 2.15 m wide and weighs 1,556 kg. The maximum speed is 250 km/h. As mentioned, the Ariel Hipercar is still a prototype car, but it will soon be a reality.
