From the new year, Argo Tali, who previously worked as the police chief of Lääne County, will become the prefect of Lääne. Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets approved Tal’s candidacy yesterday.
According to PPA General Director Egert Beličev, his experience as the head of the information office and his very good knowledge of the psyche of the prefecture spoke in Tal’s favor. “Both candidates who reached the final round were strong experts and team leaders. As the head of the information office, Argo Tal has a very good overview of the challenges of the Western Prefecture, as well as clear suggestions on how to use the team’s strengths to create security in the region. I believe that his knowledge and experience, as well as his values and attitudes, will make him a good leader for the Western Prefecture and a good partner for local governments and the community,” said Belichev.
Tali, who previously led Hiiumaa’s Kärdla cordon, started working as police chief of Lääne County in October 2014. However, in March of the following year, he resigned to work as the head of the information office.
According to Tali, winning the competition is a great honor and recognition, but in the future, she tries to take her new job as an adventurous challenge. “Very good work has been done in the Western prefecture, but with the change of prefect there is an opportunity to “restart” some activities. I discuss my ideas with the closest team, but the keywords could be flexibility and efficiency, focus on communities and willingness to test new promising activities,” he briefly described his plans.
The second term of the current Western Prefect Kaido Kõplas ends on 31.12.2024.
