The National Electoral Chamber (CNE) of Argentina He maintained this Saturday that “the presentations regarding a fraud ham in the elections held by the opposition formation Freedom Advances (LLA), ahead of this Sunday’s presidential runoff.

The electoral performance secretary of the (CNE), Sebastian Schimmelhe said to the Miter radio that “they are absolutely unfounded versions, because not even on the networks they are accompanied with arguments, but they generate this climate that tries to be one of distrust.”

Schimmel indicated that by showing what the procedures are like at all stages of the electoral process, “all that so far has dissipated.”

“There is no complaint, no fact that justifies this concern,” Schimmel tried to clarify regarding the opposition’s suspicions of fraud.

The secretary recalled that the Argentine electoral process is surrounded by guarantees and “is robust”, as there has been no “irregular process of fraud” beyond specific cases that did not impact any result.

Hours following this statement, The representatives of the ruling coalition Unión por la Patria (Peronism) and the LLA (ultra-right) met this Saturday with the CNE magistrates with the aim of “preserving democratic coexistence.”

The rumors and suspicions of fraud were installed by LLA, whose candidate is Javier Milei, who this Sunday will compete with the current Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, to find out who will preside over the country from December 10.

Both reached the runoff following Massa obtained 36.78% of the votes and Milei, 29.99%.

“We just want to be sure that precautions are taken and that everything develops normally,” said the LLA representative, Santiago Viola, this Friday following appearing before the electoral prosecutor, Ramiro González.

This call had to do with the presentation, this Thursday, before the electoral court of María Romilda Servini, where she accused the Gendarmerie (Border Police) of having modified the content of ballot boxes and voting records in the first round on October 22 to favor Massa.

In the brief, LLA admitted that the information regarding the alleged fraud arose from social networks and from “people who did not want to identify themselves” and asked the judge to “take extreme caution.”

Viola explained that “no evidence was presented” because “It was not a complaint once morest any of the security forces” and he said that they trust that they “work in the best way.”

Milei’s party also alluded both this Friday and in recent days to the alleged theft of ballots, while the Electoral Justice has demanded that this group provide sufficient ballots for Sunday’s election.

This Sunday, 35.8 million Argentines are called to vote with mandatory suffrage for citizens between 18 and 70 years old and optional for those over that age and for adolescents aged 16 and 17, as well as for residents abroad.
