Argentine TV mogul Marcelo Tinelli resigned as president of San Lorenzo

The businessman and popular host of Argentine television Marcelo Tinelli resigned on Saturday from the presidency of San Lorenzo de Almagroa first division club involved in a protracted football crisis.

“I have decided to leave my position as president. What you feel when you think you are doing your best, at certain times is not reflected in a concrete reality or is not enough,” wrote the television mogul, explaining the reasons for his resignation as head of San Lorenzoa club of which Pope Francis is a supporter.

The Cyclone is eliminated from the next round of the Professional Football League Cup (LPF), ranked 10th out of 14 Zone 1 competitors.

This year he was also out of the Argentine Cup. The fans are furious with the leadership and demonstrations had been held to demand the removal of the entire board of directors.

prior resignation

Tinelli, 62, had also had to resign this year from the leadership of the LPF, a measure that strengthened the power of Claudio Tapia as president of the mother entity, the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

Tinelli’s greatest success as a member of the San Lorenzo leadership was the conquest of the Liberators cup-2014.

In 2019, he became president by winning the internal elections with more than 80% of the votes of the members. The chair has become vacant for the call for new elections.
