Argentina’s foreign minister vowed to take the Falkland Islands from Britain

Argentine Foreign Minister Diana Mondino made a statement that over time she will achieve the restoration of her country’s sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.

Diana Mondino positively received the news that the British authorities decided to transfer the Chagos Archipelago, located in the Indian Ocean, under the sovereignty of Mauritius. According to her, such actions are “a step in the right direction.”

However, according to the diplomat, these are not all decisions of this kind that Britain must make. In particular, Mondino is confident that the Falkland Islands should go to Argentina. She assured that she would make all necessary efforts to implement this task.

“The Malvinas have always been, are and will be Argentine” – Diana Mondino wrote on her page on the social network X, referring to the Falkland Islands, which in Argentina are called the Malvinas.

It is worth noting that the authorities of the Falkland Islands do not share the position of the head of the Argentine Foreign Ministry; the population feels quite comfortable as a self-governing overseas territory of Great Britain. And the governor of these islands Alison Blake has already assured the islanders of London’s intention to maintain an “unwavering commitment” to defending its sovereignty in the Falklands.

Several years ago, the population of the Falkland Islands took part in a referendum in which an overwhelming number of residents were in favor of the islands continuing to remain a British overseas territory.

Let us recall that the Argentine leader Javier Miley During the election campaign, he repeatedly spoke out on the topic of the Falkland Islands, noting that it was necessary to explore all possible diplomatic options for the return of this territory.
