62 percent of the voters already cast their vote around 4:00 p.m. in the ballot to define who will be the next president of Argentina, in an election in which 35 million people are eligible to cast their vote.

Participation in the elections at 4:00 p.m. local time was 62%, according to the National Electoral Chamber (CNE), while the press announced that, at the rate at which this vote is taking place, around 80% is expected.
This Sunday’s elections to elect the new president of Argentina, in the second round, are taking place normally, with a large influx of voters in the morning but without long delays in the lines.
President Alberto Fernández voted at 9:30 a.m. at the headquarters of the Argentine Catholic University (UCA) in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Puerto Madero. “It is an important day for democracy that turns 40. I trust that everything will be done in order and in peace, as always when we vote,” said the president.
The president did not issue any more statements due to the electoral ban in the framework of the second round to define who will occupy the Presidency between the candidate of Unión por la Patria (UxP), Sergio Massa, and the candidate of La Libertad Avanza (LLA), Javier Milei.

“It is one more day where we Argentines choose regarding our future. We must respect and take great care of democracy. May it be a day of happiness,” predicted the national leader following voting. “Since we are in a closed season, I’m not going to say anything else,” Fernández stressed in his brief message.

The candidates seeking to succeed the current Argentine president Alberto Fernández are Javier Milei, from La Libertad Avanza, and Sergio Massa, from Unión por la Patria.
Massa and Milei reached this stage because they were the two with the most votes and neither obtained more than 45 percent of the necessary votes or more than 40 with a difference of ten percent over the second to win in the first round of the elections, held last October 22.

The Unión por la Patria candidate obtained 36.7 percent of the votes, once morest 30 percent of the La Libertad Avanza candidate and 23.8 percent of Patricia Bullrich, who was the third most voted.
