Argentina GP: New schedule, Friday canceled! / MotoGP

Because the arrival of the missing cargo is still being delayed, the schedule for the 2022 Argentine GP will be turned inside out: There will be no driving in Termas tomorrow, Friday.

One of the five cargo jumbos got stuck on the way from Indonesia to Argentina because of a problem in Mombasa/Kenya. This means that some GP teams but also outfitters lack the material. The boxes of the MotoGP Ducati customer teams from Gresini and Mooney VR46 are therefore even completely empty.

“We expect the rest of the cargo for Thursday noon,” IRTA CEO Mike Trimby initially explained to SPEEDWEEK.com. Tech3 team owner Hervé Poncharal awaited the boxes in the paddock around 4pm local time.

However, this schedule cannot be adhered to, there is a further delay due to a second problem with another aircraft: The cargo plane will not take off from Mombasa until this Thursday evening and then fly to Tucumán via Lagos and Brazil, around one and a half hours by truck from Las Termas removed. Because the material then has to be unloaded and taken to the Autódromo do Río Hondo, around 120 km away, it can only be handed over to the teams on Friday followingnoon or even Friday followingnoon.

As SPEEDWEEK.com learned from Dorna and IRTA, the schedule had to be adjusted and Friday training had to be cancelled. FP1 and FP2 will be made up for on Saturday. The MotoGP class completes three free practice sessions (no FP4). For the small classes, on the other hand, FP3 is omitted, and their warm-up on Sunday morning is extended to 20 minutes. The MotoGP warm-up then lasts 30 minutes.
