After the 90th minute, the score was 1-1, and the match went to penalties, where the Albiceleste team scored 4 goals to Ecuador’s 2. It is worth noting that in this penalty shootout, the world champion, Lionel Messi, did not score on his turn.
The penalty shoot-out was as follows:
Argentina: Messi missed his penalty, while Julián Álvarez, Alexis Mac Allister, Gonzalo Montiel and Nicolás Otamendi were unstoppable against Alexander Domínguez.
