President Bernardo Arévalo confirmed his participation in the inauguration of Luis Abinader as president of the Dominican Republic, on August 16, where he will also promote investment and tourism during a visit to Punta Cana, according to sources from the Executive.
According to Santiago Palomo, Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency, next Wednesday Arévalo will travel to the Dominican Republic to participate in the inauguration of Abinader and his vice president, Raquel Peña.
According to a publication by the Guatemalan News Agency (AGN), The Dominican Republic’s Foreign Ministry said the activities will take place on August 15 and 16, although there is a possibility that an activity will take place on August 17 in Santiago de Los Caballeros.
It was reported that, in addition, Arévalo will visit Punta Cana together with the Vice Minister of Investment and Competition of the Ministry of Economy, Antonio Romero, “to fine-tune the investment agenda in this country, which is experiencing a historic moment, and to learn about the sustainable development model, especially in terms of tourism,” according to the AGN.
It was also said that these actions are due to the fact that Guatemala and the Dominican Republic maintain a close relationship of friendship and cooperation, and that proof of this is that in August 2022 the first direct flight between both nations arrived at La Aurora International Airport.
