Currently, the deblockade of the city of Mariupol, surrounded by troops of Russia and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), is impossible. This was stated by Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich.
“I have a bad news. The deblockade of Mariupol is impossible,” the official said. According to Arestovich, it is impossible to resolve the issue of de-blockade of Mariupol by military means. Therefore, it is necessary to negotiate.
An adviser to Zelensky’s office explained that the main part of the Ukrainian army is busy in other directions and therefore cannot make a roll to release Mariupol. Arestovich also recalled that Russia controls the airspace over Mariupol and the approaches to it.
