Are you traveling to Cuba? New measures to enter the island from this month of October 2024

The Cuban authorities have announced two important measures for entry to the country for foreign travelers and Cuban residents abroad.

These modifications, which came into effect in October 2024, seek to simplify entry procedures and improve the visitor experience, in an effort to boost tourism on the island.

Requirements to enter Cuba

The first measure refers to the D’Viajeros online platform, which is mandatory for everyone who wishes to enter Cuba. Through this portal, travelers must register their personal data and trip details before their arrival. Until recently, the deadline to complete this registration was 48 hours before landing in the country. However, as of October 1, 2024, the time allowed to carry out this procedure has been extended to seven days.

The Cuban Ministry of Tourism highlighted this change on its social networks, emphasizing that the new flexibility provides more comfort to visitors. «The D’Viajeros platform is now available! You can complete it up to 7 days before your travel date to Cuba. “Do not waste time and ensure a hassle-free entry,” the official statement said. This change seeks to relieve pressure on travelers and allow them to organize their registration further in advance, reducing pre-travel stress.

Other measures

The second important change affects travelers who still have the old “Tourist Card.” This document was replaced by the e-Visa in August 2024, but many travelers still have tourist cards acquired before the implementation of the new system. Originally, Cuban authorities established December 31, 2024 as the deadline to use these cards.

However, it has been decided to extend this period until June 30, 2025. In this way, those who still have unused tourist cards will be able to use them for a longer period, which offers greater flexibility to visitors and avoids possible inconveniences.

Cuba simplifies entry procedures for travelers

With these measures, the Cuban government seeks to make entry to the country more accessible, especially at a time when tourism needs to be reactivated after years of crisis. The new rules aim to streamline administrative procedures and give travelers more options and time to prepare their documentation. This, without a doubt, reaffirms Cuba’s effort to continue being an attractive tourist destination, improving the experience of those who visit the island.

These modifications show the authorities’ commitment to adapt to the needs of tourism and ensure that travelers have a smoother and more hassle-free entry into the country.
