Since iOS 17.2, happy owners of iPhone 15 Pro can record “space videos”, that is to say videos visible in three dimensions with a Vision Pro. Technically, these videos are captured using two rear cameras, the main and the ultra-wide-angle.

According to the few journalists who were able look in the Vision Pro space videos that they had shot themselves or that had been recorded by Apple, the results can be striking. “It was so realistic and comfortable that it almost scared me”, said Joanna Sterne, journalist at Wall Street Journalregarding a space video, designed by Apple, of a father telling a story to his children.
The counterpart of this immersion effect is that spatial videos are limited to 1080p at 30 fps, a far cry from the 4K at 60 fps possible for 2D videos. There are also some conditions to respect, such as being in a fairly bright location and not filming the subject too closely.
Even if you don’t currently have a Vision Pro (if you do, contact us, that interests us…) and you probably won’t have one for several months or several years, you can very well record in this format from now on. Spatial videos can indeed be read on iPhone, iPad, Mac and all other traditional devices, but only in 2D obviously (an app allows you to convert them to read them in 3D with other VR headsets).
