This Sunday, September 22, you can donate blood at the facilities of the Mercedes Norte church in Heredia, specifically at the rectory.
The activity will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The liquid will be used to care for patients at the San Juan de Dios Hospital, located in San José.
“Many patients require this donated blood to survive and to be able to undergo their treatments. An example of this are oncohematological patients who require red blood cells, plasma, platelets and even cryoprecipitates,” said Ana Lucía Valerín Chaves, head of the Blood Bank.
He recalled that in this medical center, a transfusion of blood components is performed every 30 minutes.
In this way, Valerín highlighted that one donor can save three lives.
This will be the sixth time that the hospital’s Blood Bank has carried out a campaign of this type outside the hospital’s facilities.
If you cannot attend this Sunday, remember that during the week there are hours available to donate this liquid.
The hours are Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., while from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors must enter through the south entrance of the medical center, located next to the Ministry of Health.
