This Friday, October 25, several Cubans reported about an alleged update on the website of the Spanish Consulate in Cuba. Some users shared their experiences on social networks, expressing both frustrations and satisfaction.
Yesterday, some applicants commented that the update made it possible to process files submitted until March 2024. However, confusion persists among those trying to navigate the new system and who feel abandoned due to the lack of clear information.
Several celebrated having obtained their Spanish nationality. “I am already Spanish, I submitted on March 7 and with the update I was able to confirm that they approved me,” said one user, making clear her relief after a long process.
However, others encountered difficulties when trying to access the platform. «I’ve been trying to check all afternoon and it gives me an error. Nothing comes up for me, it stays blank when I enter the file number,” commented another user. At the moment there is no official confirmation, which generates a climate of concern among those waiting for news about their procedures.
Citations for Law 36 of minors
According to several testimonies, those awaiting appointments under Law 36 for Minors face additional complications. This same October 25, some appointments were mysteriously scheduled, according to several testimonies, without those interested having access to the platform to verify them.
Users were surprised to see appointments scheduled by the old system, which should no longer be operational, appearing. “Are the administrators of the page and the Consulate innocent?” questioned one of those affected.
As indicated, there are appointments scheduled until the end of November for this specific process. The news of this situation has generated a stir on social networks, where applicants ask for transparency and better communication from the Consulate. Others go further and claim that appointments are being sold.
Credentials for December
Another topic of discussion revolves around the credentials needed to obtain appointments. Some claim that these are aimed at applicants from December 2023. This adds more tension to the already complicated process faced by Cubans seeking to obtain Spanish citizenship under the Democratic Memory Law, commonly known as the grandchildren law.
In the midst of this situation, Cubans hope that the difficulties will be resolved and that the promised updates will meet the expectations of those seeking a new life in Spain.
