Are there really paintings with V. Putin displayed in the State Tretyakov Gallery of Russia?

The State Tretyakov Gallery is an art museum in Moscow, founded in 1856. founded by merchant Pavel Tretyakov. It has one of the largest collections of Russian art in the world.

Recently, a video in which a tour guide is supposedly introducing a new exhibition has received a lot of likes, comments and shares on the social network Facebook. It contains portraits of V. Putin, depicting him as an emperor, other paintings in which he is supposedly immortalized with world politicians in his favor – former US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Internet users in the comments claim that they did not understand whether it was a joke or whether the gallery managers really decided to honor the head of the country in this way.

The exhibition is old, only the images are new

In fact, the video is real, that is, it was not generated with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). However, the pictures of V. Putin in the frames are fake.

The shots are taken from a recording of a more than hour-long virtual tour of Ivan Aivazovsky’s exhibition. It was held back in 2016.

Ivan Aivazovski or Ovanes Gaivazian – a world-famous Russian artist of Armenian origin – mariner, collector, philanthropist.

In reality in the record Galina Sergeyevna Chiurak, head of the Tretyakov Gallery’s 19th century second half – 20th century for the beginning painting department, and the curator of the I. Aivazovskis exhibition presents the works of this famous artist.

“Borrowed” joke

As the watermark on the fake post shows, it was first published on the Telegram channel Barrin_channel.

This channel fiercely criticizes V. Putin and his henchmen, the situation in Russia, shares both serious information and jokes and cartoons.

Here, the recording from the alleged tour of the V. Putin portrait exhibition was published for the first time on March 12.
