European concerns
Written by Rainer Ackermann
Parliament’s Europe Committee is launching an investigation into whether the left in Brussels is acting once morest Hungary’s interests. Fidesz MEP Tamás Deutsch said that since 2019 the parties of the “dollar left” have put all their energy into action to harm their homeland.
Deutsch accused the MEPs from the left-wing parties of carrying out subversive work once morest Hungary. This started with efforts to prevent Hungary from receiving more EU funding in the new EU financial framework adopted in 2020. However, this request failed because Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was able to guarantee Hungary an additional 2.5 billion euros with his energetic demeanor. The left then changed its tactics and wanted to use lies to prevent the money promised to Hungary from actually being paid out. Based on these lies, the Brussels bureaucracy initiated proceedings once morest Budapest arbitrarily and without regard to legal norms.
Strange behavior
The Fidesz politician found it particularly strange that left-wing politicians such as DK leader Ferenc Gyurcsány or Miklós Hajnal from Momentum were still boasting in the media regarding their blockade stance. “Whatever happens in Hungarian domestic politics, the MPs from Momentum, DK, MSZP and Jobbik never miss an opportunity to inform the European Parliament, combined with a request to ensure order in Hungary.”
Political hallucinations
András Fekete-Győr reacted for Momentum in the European Committee by pointing out that German lives in an alternative reality and suffers from political hallucinations. “The Hungarian reality is the pardon scandal or the revelations of Péter Magyar, who was one of the promoters of the Orbán system.” Péter Balassa from Jobbik noted dryly that it was the unbelievable policies of Fidesz that are denying Hungary and its citizens the EU -Refuse funds.
Committee chairman Zoltán Tessely (Fidesz) announced an extraordinary meeting of the body with hearings on April 16.
