The French short boat championships delivered their verdict on Sunday in Cazaubon. Olympic and Paralympic medalists have marked their territory.

Despite contrasting weather conditions due to the wind, the French short boat championships closed yesterday in Cazaubon on Lake Uby. 18 national championship titles were assigned.

Great adversity among the Seniors

In the category two without men’s coxswain, Guillaume and Thibaud Turlan won their first national title in the Gers, leaving title holder Benoît Brunet and Téo Rayet with the silver medal. “It’s a milestone, but it shows that we have progressed, and we can share it with the club and the young people”, welcomes Thibaud Turlan. The young Chamberian pair composed of Armand Pfister and Florian Ludwig completes the podium. On the women’s side, Emma Cornelis and Joséphine Cornut-Danjou won gold with mastery, ahead of Fleur Vaucoret and Léa Herscovici, and Maya Cornut-Danjou and Pauline Tollard-Rossignol.

In the men’s lightweight single scull, Ferdinand Ludwig won his first national title. “I knew the qualities of others. I played above all on mine”, he explained. Hugo Beurey and Baptiste Savaete complete the podium. Among the women, Claire Bové, silver medalist in Tokyo, won a new title of French champion ahead of Laura Tarantola, her teammate with whom she won her medal at the last Games, and Aurélie Morizot.

In the men’s single scull, reigning Olympic champions Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias had a tough time. But it was the first rower mentioned who won the gold medal. “It didn’t have to be any longer, admits the winner. I played the game well in this race”. Among the women, it was Élodie Ravera-Scaramozzino who largely won ahead of Margaux Bailleul and Jeanne Roche.
