Are there affordable technical aids that automatically switch off the solar panel system if you feed back too much?
“No, there are none. You will have to do that yourself. But since Vandebron is the only supplier that introduces these higher fixed costs for solar panel owners, it pays to look at alternative energy suppliers who do not penalize solar panel owners.”
Is it given the peak energy consumption of appliances in a home it is possible for a household to use all generated power itself and not to feed anything back? Household appliances usually only use a lot of power for a short time.
“Using all self-generated power completely yourself via only household appliances is very difficult for an average household. In terms of power guzzlers, you should think of an electric car or several home batteries. But even then, the question is whether that is feasible, because you peak times on a sunny day so much generation that the chance that you do not feed anything back to the grid is minimal.”

With the planned phasing out of the net metering scheme and levies such as those of Vandebron, is it still interesting in the long term to install solar panels if you cannot continuously adjust your own consumption?
“The objective of the cabinet is still that the purchase of solar panels must be rewarding for the consumer. This will therefore always be looked at to ensure that the installation of solar panels remains interesting.”
“In addition, the phasing out of the net metering scheme still has to pass through the Senate. As the largest party in the Senate, BBB has indicated that it wants to keep the current net metering scheme.”
“If the phasing out of the net metering does pass the Senate, it will be phased out in steps until 2031. That will take so long that you will still earn back the solar panels. Vandebron is the only energy company that has currently introduced a levy for solar panel owners The payback time of your investment will therefore be much longer at Vandebron.”
Is what Vandebron is doing now actually allowed through the legislation on the net metering scheme?
“Gaslicht.com seems like a very good question for politicians. The minister recently said that the intention of the current and newly proposed net metering scheme is that consumers earn back their investment in solar panels in a maximum of nine years. The Vandebron construction will considerably extend the payback period The question is whether this is in the spirit of the law. It’s not for us to judge.”

How can I control my energy costs now that I have a heat pump (which consumes electricity in the cold months) and solar panels that generate little electricity?
“That is indeed difficult. Suppose you take a home battery, then you can use your own electricity generated during the day in the evenings. But that is not a solution to compensate the winter period with the summer period. So it remains important to have a competitive energy rate to close.”
