Since December 2023, the CFE reported that there is no agreement for beneficiaries to have a discount on their rates (Government of Mexico)
Thousands of beneficiaries affiliated with the National Institute for Older Adults (INAPAM) can access discounts at private establishments and when paying for government services, with the only requirement being to present their program credential to make said discount valid.
Some of the services that senior citizens can get a discount on are the Intermunicipal System of Drinking Water and Sewerage Services (SIAPA), which might reduce their debt by up to 50%, and the same goes for property tax.
Therefore, doubts arise as to whether INAPAM beneficiaries are entitled to a reduction in fees or full payment of their electricity rate provided by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). In this regard, the company clarified since December 21, 2023, that there is no agreement with INAPAM that allows senior citizens to access discounts or other benefits.
INAPAM offers a wide range of benefits for its users, mainly in the case of private companies, such as those in the travel and lodging sector, including restaurants, health and wellness services, which can use them with the arrival of summer.
An example of this is Aeromexico offering a 15 percent discount on airline tickets, Mexicana a 20 percent discount, and the land-based travel company ADO a 50 percent discount.
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) also announced that discounts will be applied to first and economy class passengers from July 17 to August 25.
