The commune of Sainte-Ode is behind the initiative of a park dedicated to Nordic walking. It consists of 5 routes to choose from from 2 to 18 kilometers. The Tourism Agency explains the principle of this sports walk, offers you cultural visits in Jeep Willis and the tasting of an organic and local beer in a family brewery.

Sainte-Ode, named following the virgin who watches over the inhabitants, is located inside the Deux Ourthe Natural Park. The town where life is good is located between Saint-Hubert and Bastogne and is crossed by the western Ourthe. For sports enthusiasts, this is the perfect place for kayaking, rafting and even rock climbing. But there is an activity for athletes of another kind, those who love hiking. Nordic walking is very popular, which is why a park is totally dedicated to it: The Ardennes Nordic Park.

The starting points are from different villages. Among the various hikes, that of the path of the Ourthe and Laval Valleys. The appointment is fixed from the Ortie area, you receive Nordic walking sticks with straps that have nothing to do with those of the mountains.

To do Nordic walking, reverse the movement: the left foot moves forward at the same time as the right arm. It sounds totally illogical but it’s a question of concentration. During the first 3 steps, we inhale, during the next 3, we exhale…. It’s not easy when you’re a beginner, but the principle of focusing on the breath can allow some relaxation. During your walk, you will observe superb violets, paths, footbridges, dirt roads, pastures, the landscape is infinitely varied and it is revitalizing.
