Arctic Monkeys, Maud Geffray, Tristesse Contemporaine… The clips of the week

It’s time to take stock of the clip releases of the week, prolific as usual. So we welcome Arctic Monkeys with open arms, we dance with Tristesse Contemporaine, we turn-up at the Bourse de Commerce with rad cartier, Lala &ce and Le Diouck, we walk in the forest at night with Koudlam and Maud Geffray, we talk regarding movies with Maybe Merlin, and we find a nostalgic Polnareff.

Arctic Monkeys — Body Paint

Once once more, the Sheffield group has proven its infallible ability to reinvent itself. With their single “Body Paint”, Arctic Monkeys unveils a new music video directed by Brook Linder, filmed between Missouri and London. The piece, whose violins and orchestrated part reminds us a little “Eleanor Rigby”, is sublimated by the hypnotic voice of an Alex Turner in better shape than ever. This is the second single from their seventh album The Carwhich will be released on October 21.

MAYBE MERLIN — “MAYBE MERLIN

This is the very first clip of the pop duo formed by Georgia Ives and Vincent Brulin. In this black and white video, the two artists revisit Courtyard window by Hitchcock for an eponymous title written by Paul Ivès, Georgia’s father. A fine glimpse of the slightly perched poetic universe of this emerging duo, which offers a clip with pronounced cinematographic references.

Contemporary Sadness — “England”

This is the second extract from a three-part animated film directed by Laura Passalacqua, whose first clip “Sly Flow”, was released last August. We can’t help but dance to this new dancepop track whose chorus has accents of Jamaican dancehall. Their next album, produced by Lewis OfMan, will be released on October 14 and they will be performing at La Maroquinerie on November 7!

Lala &ce, Low Jack ft. Le Diouck and Rad Cartier — “Gelati”

The three musketeers Lala &ce, Le Diouck and Rad Cartier have struck once more. These three artists, whose undeniable synergy has its effect with each collaboration, are back in a powerful clip shot at the Bourse de Commerce. This is the second extract from the musical Baiser Mortelcreated by composer Low Jack, which was presented at the same venue in October 2021.

Maud Geffray ft. Koudlam — “Royal Bellies”

Inspired by the photographs of Japanese Kohei Yoshiyuki, the latest clip from DJ-composer Maud Geffray and the multidisciplinary Koudlam sets a mysterious nocturnal setting live from an enigmatic forest. A dark atmosphere all in play of light for a piece of disturbing power.

Michel Polnareff — “Letter to France” (Reprise)

Special mention to our national Michel Polnareff, who has just released a clip where he resumes “Letter to France”, in a refined piano-voice, in the middle of the desert. Simple, effective, timeless. Thanks Michael.
