Arcioni presided over the inauguration of the Cabin Nuclear Medicine Service in Comodoro

Arcioni highlighted the accompaniment from the Provincial State and highlighted the task of the personnel who carry out tasks in this highly complex Health space. “It is true that the province had very important accompaniment in recent times and Minister Puratich understood the complexity and what the Cabin means to all of us,” he pointed out.

In addition to references from the Center’s directory, the inaugural act was attended by the mayor of Comodorense, Juan Pablo Luque; the Minister of Health, Fabián Puratich; the president of the National Atomic Energy Commission (Cnea) Adriana Serquis; the mayor of Rada Tilly, Luis Juncos; and the national deputy Ana Clara Romero; among others.

“We have made a great effort and the most important work is the energy project, which was stopped, was resumed and the investment was made, such as the Regional Hospital, the Cabin and part of the center of Comodoro,” highlighted the Governor of Chubut in his speech.

“The only thing left to do,” Arcioni specified, “is to tell them that we are going to continue accompanying them, as we have been doing. The families that go through this trance are going to find a wonderful human resource and technology. I thank the National Atomic Energy Commission that put everything it had to put in terms of equipment.

Arcioni defined the Cabin as “a reference center at the national level and that should make us feel proud as people from Chubut, for having this technology and providing this complex health service.”

HEALTH TECHNOLOGY
In turn, Mayor Luque highlighted the commitment of those who were part of the formation of the Center for Bionuclear Applications and its strategic importance in the region. “From 2015 onwards we were able to have continuity and achieve the objective that we are announcing today and that is already within the reach of the community.”
«Having to leave the city, away from the family was a difficulty for those who suffered from a disease such as cancer. Being able to be treated here, with professionals and world-class technology, is a source of pride. Comodoro has an institution that is a luxury and we have an obligation to know how they are and what they need.

STRENGTHEN CAPACITIES

For her part, the head of the National Atomic Energy Commission, Adriana Serquis, highlighted the agreements that allowed strengthening capacities in the care of oncological diseases. She recalled that the project to retrofit the equipment and infrastructure of the Cabin’s nuclear medicine and radiotherapy services was resumed in 2018 thanks to the Government of Chubut. “We provided two accelerators, one of which is already in operation; a CT scanner for planning, SPECT and PET imaging, and brachytherapy that will be available by the end of August,” she noted.

“A great job was done -he added- in maintaining this Center and its workers have been able to train and train because we contribute to the training of human resources and specialists who make this grow from public service and knowledge.”

For his part, Juan José Nieto, from the Cabin, referred to the task that is provided in terms of patient containment. “Today we partially enable the part that corresponds to nuclear medicine, a service that has elements that allow diagnostic imaging of different pathologies. We are in a position to serve cancer patients with the latest technology available.”

ADVANCES IN NUCLEAR MEDICINE

As of last December, the Cabin put into operation the first hybrid SPECT/CT imaging system in Nuclear Medicine, for general purposes with double head with a low-dose radiation CT, General Electric brand model Optima NM/CT 640 , with workstation, Xeleris model» 3.1.

This equipment constitutes the greatest advance in taking images of metabolic and molecular function; with the possibility of fusing them to an anatomical reference low-dose tomography. The images that until today were taken with a conventional Gamma Camera, are now added to the possibility of merging them with an anatomical reference CT and all this in a single acquisition procedure.

Regarding the system for PET/CT to improve disease detection, GE-IQ implies a new system for positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET/CT), which allows obtaining both excellent image quality and intelligent quantification, helps doctors to get the best possible response from their patients.
