There is no doubt that the cycle of trends in decoration has a long life. However, colors, styles and prints are renewed every season, pointing out new possibilities for expressing yourself and creating a home with personality.
Keeping an eye on the behaviors, news and materials that emerge, brands are preparing to offer what fashion, art, culture and technology, which go beyond the residential environment, point out as must have and that, in a way, interfere with how we experience the house.
“Building a home is a continuous process and our choices accompany us for many years and, unlike clothes, they are always on display in our daily lives. As a result, planning and research [de desenvolvimento de produtos] takes into account this flow of evolution that needs to have new features, but that they coordinate with what already exists in people’s homes”, explains Edson Coutinho, design trends coordinator at Tok&Stok.
NOSTALGIA AND AFFECTIVE MEMORY
For next year, the influence of the 1970s should remain strong, but still under the post-pandemic effect, which brought a reflection on well-being and self-care. For Tintas Coral, for example, the search for balance guides the palettes that should be successful. The brand’s color of the year 2024 is Place of Affectiona grayish pink that seeks to revive affective memories and promote inner peace, contentment and belonging.
“This resource of nostalgia is always a balm of relief and hope for moments of uncertainty. With this, the furniture close to the floor, the brown furniture, the prints referenced to this era, the Brazilian designed and almond wood and icons of national design take center stage”, points out Edson.
WELL-BEING AND SAFETY
In addition to objects, the layout of residences also follows trends, and the main one is flexibility. “These are spaces that can easily adapt to different needs, such as work environments at home, leisure spaces and living areas”, explains architect Ticiane Lima.
The note is also present in the study of WGSNa trend forecasting agency, regarding interiors 2024. In it, the format is called Care-Taking and is related to the organization of the home on a daily basis in favor of well-being to the detriment of work.
The signs for next year are simplicity, security, tranquility, awareness, balance, minimalism, maturity, flexibility, affection, comfort, nature, self-care and self-responsibility, according to Dr. Patrícia Sant’Anna, Chief Visionary Officer at Tendere Pesquisa e Soluções Criativas .
Taking them into account, Tendere chose the color of the year 2024 for Eucatex: Artwork 2857E. A lilac with notes of yellow, pink, brown and gray, a color that naturally awakens calm, relaxation and security.
TECHNOLOGY
Fluid States, mapped by WGSN, is another behavior that should dictate rules in decoration. The proposal is the net integration of technology into homes, so that digital assets become as important as physical products.
“Home automation and the integration of smart technologies into homes and commercial buildings will continue to grow. This includes security systems, lighting control and automation of domestic tasks”, explains Ticiane.
MORE TRENDS TO KEEP AN EYE ON
In addition to the trends mentioned above, Ticiane lists five other points that should gain more space in architecture and interior design next year:
- Sustainability: Concern for the environment continues to influence design and architecture. More sustainable and environmentally conscious designs, including the use of recycled materials and renewable energy, are expected to become more common.
- Creative use of materials: We are constantly exploring new ways to use traditional and innovative materials. There may be a focus on sustainable, recycled and low environmental impact materials.
- Minimalism and simplicity: The minimalist style, characterized by simplicity and an emphasis on functionality, is expected to continue to be a popular trend in 2024.
- Natural colors and textures: The use of colors and textures inspired by nature can become more common, creating welcoming and balanced environments.
- Bioclimatic architecture: Projects that incorporate principles of bioclimatic architecture, taking advantage of the natural environment for thermal comfort and energy efficiency, can gain prominence.
EVERYTHING WITH BRAZILIAN DNA
It is worth mentioning that the trends highlighted are born from global studies and here they come to life through the Brazilian perspective of brands, architects, designers, artists and other professionals in the segment.
“The projects are always inspired and thought of with a lot of bossa and Brazilian poetry, bringing the air and refinement of our Brazil: our roots, leather, exposed concrete, natural wood and many more elements that result in the predominant architecture in our country” , concludes the architect.
