Ankara: A Malayalee company named ‘Archies Academy’ has won the Best Educational Startup competition organized by Technofest, the biggest technology festival in Turkey. The competition started on August 30 and lasted for two days and the results were announced on September 1. Taufiq Zaheer, a Malayali, and his team received the gold medal for the winners and a gift worth 5 lakhs from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
There is a saying that there is no country without Malayalis, but Turkey is a country where Malayalis are generally less in number. Compared to the rest of Europe, the presence of Malayalis in Turkey’s business sector is very rare. However, the Turkish government’s recent approach to startups has changed the country’s economic landscape. That’s how in 2019, a Malayalee software engineer expands the American company ‘Archies Academy’ in Turkey.
Taufiq Zaheer, a native of Kochi, started his career as a software engineer at Tata Consultancy. Then he went to America for his career and was working as a manager in a computational company called “Wolfrum”. Taufeek, who moved to Turkey with his family in 2018, realized that a lot of change was possible in the field of software engineering in Turkey. Whether mid-career dropouts, new career seekers, fresh graduates interested in software field, Archies Academy is a platform to get training with practical experience. Another specialty of Archies Academy is its own ‘Learning Management System’.
Archies Academy has also received the Impact Startup Award from Web Summit, one of the largest annual tech conferences. Archies Academy has been awarded this award for its efforts to meet the two criteria of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are quality education and gender equality.
