Archbishop of Tulancingo resigns; Oscar Dominguez appointed as successor

PACHUCA.- The Mexican Episcopal Conference announced that the Pope Francisco accepted the resignation of the pastoral government of Archdiocese of Tulancingoa Monsignor, Domingo Diaz Martinez and in his place will be appointed Oscar Roberto Dominguez Couttolenc.

Monsignor Domingo Díaz Martínez seeks to be able to enjoy retirement, as established in the canons of the Catholic Church.

According to this religious regulation, all bishops must submit their resignation at the age of 75. Bishop Domingo will turn 76 in August, so he is just a few months away from the first anniversary of his letter of resignation to Vatican City.

A few weeks ago he said that once the Vatican announces that his retirement was approved, will dedicate his time to prayer now learn one of the musical instruments that you are most passionate regarding.

Through a statement it was announced that Monsignor Oscar Roberto Dominguez, until now bishop of Ecatepec, will be transferred to Tulancingo, Hidalgo.

Who is Monsignor Oscar Roberto Dominguez?

Monsignor Oscar Roberto Domínguez is originally from Puebla and in his academic training, he has studied a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Theology from the Seminary of Missions awarded by the Intercontinental University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the Lasalle University.

Within the Catholic Church, he began his ministry in the Archdiocese of Monterrey. He was missionary in Kenya in Africawhere he held the positions of Vicar and Parish Priest in the Diocese of Ngong.

In Mexico he served as general treasurer of the missionaries of Guadalupe and Vicario.

Also within the Episcopal Conference and having held various positions, in 2012, he was appointed by His Holiness Benedict, Bishop of Ecatepec.

Following Díaz Martínez’s resignation, His Holiness Pope Francis appointed him archbishop of Tulancingo.
