His Eminence Jean-Pierre Kutwa, Archbishop of Abidjan, asked the priests and deacons of the Archdiocese of Abidjan “to wait and comply with its provisions”, before applying the Vatican decision which gave the possibility for homosexual couples to receive a blessing from the Catholic Church.

“All priests and deacons are asked to wait and comply with the provisions of Eminence Jean-Pierre Kutwa, Archbishop of Abidjan,” recommended the Archbishop of Abidjan in a note addressed to priests, religious and faithful laity consulted Wednesday by Abidjan.net.

Furthermore, the document indicates that this recommendation from the Archbishop of Abidjan is “to be strictly applied” in all structures located on diocesan territory.

“The responsibility of episcopal vicars, senior parish priests and parish priests is required for the implementation of this recommendation,” adds the note, stressing that additional information “will be communicated gradually.”

Last Monday, December 18, the Vatican noted the possibility for homosexual couples to receive a blessing from the Catholic Church, however reaffirming its opposition to marriage for homosexuals.
