Arca Continental: Performance, Leadership, and Growth in South America

The bottler and marketer of The Coca-Cola Company products, Arca Continental, announced the appointment of Enrique Pérez Barba as the new executive director for Peru and South America. Thus, Jesús García, who had been serving as general manager of Arca Continental in Peru, was promoted to the Executive Planning Directorate at the company’s global headquarters in Monterrey, Mexico.

According to the company, the appointment of Pérez Barba responds to the company’s vision of continuing to strengthen its performance in the markets where it operates. In this way, the executive will receive the report from the general directorates of Ecuador and Argentina, and will directly lead operations in Peru.

Pérez Barba, who took office on January 1, is a systems engineer from Tecnológico de Monterrey and has a master’s degree in Marketing from the same institution. Likewise, since 1998 he has been part of Arca Continental, serving in recent years as director of Arca Continental Mexico.

Arca Continental Performance

The Arca Continental bottling company, with a presence in Argentina, Ecuador, the United States and Peru, presented its financial results for the third quarter of 2023 last November. In said report, the company’s general director, Arturo Gutiérrez, highlighted that the beverage business in South America it registered an increase in volume of 8.1%.

In this regard, the executive stated that the growth was driven mainly by the markets of Ecuador and Peru. In the Peruvian market, where it operates as Arca Continental Lindley, he highlighted a 12.3% advance in sales volume in the third quarter. This advance responded to the growth of the personal water categories (23.7%)—highlighting the San Luis and Benedictino brands—and non-carbonated water (21.9%).

In the soft drinks, colas and flavors category, the company had a rebound of 9.8% and 8.9%, respectively, supported by the returnable packaging strategy and driven by the Coca-Cola and Inca Kola brands.
