And he added: “Above all, it indicates a signal that we give to the region and to the world, that from South America, the cooperation and strategic alliance of Brazil and Argentina is what makes this region strong, which is privileged in its natural resources. , but also in its human resources and above all as it is a region of peace, without weapons of mass destruction and respect for the sovereignty of States”.

In turn, Lieutenant General Pereda declared: “For the Army, this exercise is a milestone in this path of integration that we are taking with the Brazilian Army,” and explained: “This military concept of interoperability of forces contributes to that strategic alliance that was relaunched in January of this year by the presidents of Argentina and Brazil”.

The “Arandú” exercise began its projection in the year 2021 with a combined work of staff planning and simulation exercises. During this year, the practical part of it is carried out in our country.

The purpose of this combined exercise is to strengthen and increase the interoperability of the participating forces and the communication ties between the armies of both countries in accordance with what is expressed in the bilateral agreement of the year 2020.

The Arandú Brigade has a Command Element that directs the operations, made up of a General Staff combined with members of both armies. The operational force is balanced with 20 troops from the Argentine Army and 20 troops from the Brazilian Army, accompanied by an Armored Task Force, made up of an armored squad, a mechanized company and a motorized company, this force is made up of a total of 242 military, distributed equally between both countries.

In addition to these, the Paratrooper Task Force, made up of a paratrooper company and an air assault company, this force has 152 paratroopers and 88 air raiders from the Argentine Army and the Brazilian Army, the Special Operations Force Company, made up of 68 members of the Argentine Special Operations Troops and 68 members of the Brazilian Special Troops and the Aviation Company made up of 62 members of the Argentine Army Aviation and 37 members of the Brazilian Army.

The exercise began on July 20 with planning —simulation— at the division level and the delivery of orders from the commanders to the land, air, and naval forces. Subsequently, on July 25, rapid deployment activities began under the responsibility of the Combined Force.

The phase of exercises in the field began on July 31, with the planning of the Arandú Combined Brigade, and will last until August 5, including the execution of operations and the conquest of established objectives.

Throughout the last 40 years, the strategic link with Brazil has been one of the cornerstones of regional integration in South America. This exercise represents the friendship and trust that exists between both Armed Forces that allows us to consolidate the region as a zone of peace.
