Aral is driving the expansion of its ultra-fast charging network in Germany. By the end of the year, the company wants to double the number of charging points for its Aral pulse brand from around 1,500 to 3,000 and is investing up to 100 million euros to do so. In the medium term, there should be over 5,000 charging points by 2025.
Aral Pulse has already registered a million charging processes on its columns in two and a half years. And the demand is growing: from July to December 2022, Aral sold twice as much electricity as in the first half of the year. Alexander Junge, Aral Board Member for Electromobility, complains that the long planning and approval procedures are the biggest hurdle in expanding the charging infrastructure. “While new registrations of electric vehicles are increasing rapidly, we are still waiting up to 18 months for a medium-voltage connection to be approved. And that’s just part of the entire approval process. Little has changed in this regard in the last two years.” (aum)
