Rahman hoped that his name means ‘merciful’ and that it is a characteristic of God, and that there will be peace and prosperity in Canada. He thanked his countrymen and especially his creative associates for inspiring him to make music.
“The name AR Rahman is not mine. It means merciful. Mercy is a common God quality that we all have. One can only be a servant of Karunamayan. So may that name bring peace, prosperity, happiness and health to all the people living in Canada. God bless you all,’ he noted.
Rahman, who has been composing music for films for three decades, said that this honor made him feel responsible and gave him more strength to continue without retiring from music.
“It’s motivated me to do more, and I feel like I’ve been given a lot of responsibility. “Even though I’m tired, I remember that I have more to do, more people to connect with, more hearts to touch,” he added.
Rahman has scored music for upcoming films like Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, Gautham Vasudev Menon’s ‘Venthu Tanindhatu Kaad’ and Hindi film ‘Pippa’ starring Ishaan Khatter and Mrinal Thakur.
