Indonesian women’s doubles badminton player Apriyani Rahayu revealed that she still has the motivation to return to competition, after taking a break in the last few months to focus on recovering from injuries.

“Thank God, the motivation is still the same, because it’s like being ‘hurt’ by badminton but healed again by badminton. So, yes, thank God, (the condition) is better, the motivation has not changed,” said Apriyani at the PP PBSI National Training Center. Cipayung, East Jakarta, Wednesday (6/11).

“Alhamdulillah, (the news) is good today, I have started training too. (Regarding) When will the comeback be, just pray for the best, if it can be better
make a quick comeback,” he added.

After being absent from several tournaments after the 2024 Paris Olympics, Apriyani seemed to ‘disappear’ from the world of tepok bulu because she completely shifted her focus to healing the injury she had been suffering from for some time.

However, now, she has returned to training with the Indonesian women’s doubles team at the PP PBSI National Training Center and admits that her condition is better.

“(During the break) definitely (focus on) recovery, yes, starting from the mind, being able to make peace with what has (happened) like yesterday’s Olympics,” said Apriyani.

“So, (I) try to spend some time alone first, really, really keep away from everything, actually, so how long has it been?
doesn’t hold a racket, and has only been back for almost a month now,” he continued.

However, the gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has not revealed exactly when he will return to competing in prestigious tournaments.

“Yes, just pray, I think we can make a comeback sooner, but just pray, pray for Apri and everyone,” said Apriyani.

“Just wait for the comeback, I mean, what’s the best for next year, like that, just pray, lah, for me and the entire women’s doubles team,” she continued.

Meanwhile, Apriyani’s partner, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, is currently being paired with Lanny Tria Mayasari to take part in several championships this year.

Lanny/Fadia took home the title of champion of the Indonesia International Challenge 2024 and runner-up of the Indonesia Masters II Super 100-2024 in Surabaya in their debut.

Regarding this, Apriyani said she provided support for both of them.

“I said to Fadia, I support, the main thing is (Fadia) plays, brings out the best from (Fadia) as usual, continues with the things that
“It really has to be improved, improved so that it will be even better in the future,” concluded Apriyani. (Ant/Z-1)
