There are 25 precautionary measures, notified to as many people accused of being part of a mafia association rooted in Aprilia, in the province of Latina, and dedicated to extortion, usury, crimes against public administration, including the control of public contracts and free exercise, and drug trafficking. Since dawn this morning, the Carabinieri of the Pontine provincial command, on the orders of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Rome, have been carrying out a vast operation in the territory that is also leading to several searches. The precautionary measures were triggered following investigations that began in 2018 and which allowed the collection of “serious evidence of the alleged existence of a mafia association that operated between Aprilia and neighboring municipalities, making use of intimidating acts thanks to the advantages of the associative bond and the consequent conditions of subjugation and silence in which the victims were immersed”, we read in a note.

According to leaks, there is also the mayor of Aprilia among the 25 people under investigation. It is Lanfranco Principi reached, this morning, of the precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of Rome at the request of the Dda and executed by the Dia and the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Latina. At the moment, according to what AGI has learned, searches are underway at the mayor’s home.
