Following the death of former Prime Minister Mahammad Boun Abdallah Dionne on Friday April 5, 2024, the National Secretariat of the Alliance For the Republic (APR) expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased on behalf of President Macky Sall and all party members. Saluting the memory of an accomplished statesman and a political activist with constant convictions, the APR pays tribute to his commitment to Senegal.
In a national political context, the APR reaffirms its support for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye for his victory in the first round of the presidential elections. While wishing it success in meeting the social demands of the Senegalese people, the party takes note of the establishment of the government led by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
However, the APR underlines the need for the new government to deliver on its promises, particularly in terms of purchasing power, youth employment and transparency in appointments to management positions. The party also urges President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to respect the status of magistrates, particularly with regard to the irremovability of the First President of the Supreme Court.
“The APR draws the attention of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to the fact that he cannot inaugurate his magisterium by a flagrant violation of the statute of Magistrates following the decree wanting to revoke the appointment of the First President of the Supreme Court in accordance with the rules of law in the Superior Council of the Judiciary. We demand respect for the principle of the continuity of the State and that of the irremovability of Magistrates, especially with regard to the President of the judicial community who is the First President of the Supreme Court. »
The National Executive Secretariat (SEN) of the APR calls on the Senegalese to remain vigilant to protect the gains made since 2012, particularly in the area of human capital. He also salutes the exceptional mobilization during the departure of President Macky Sall from the Palace of the Republic, recognizing him as an exemplary leader and an exceptional builder.
Finally, the APR SEN encourages a comprehensive assessment of the 2024 presidential election in order to strengthen the party and consolidate solidarity with its Bennoo Bokk Yaakaar coalition partners. He calls on all activists to remain united and mobilized for the strengthening and influence of the party.
