Payment by approximation with credit and debit cards is now available on the entire fleet of buses on the intercity lines of the Empresa Metropolitana de Transportes Urbanos de São Paulo (EMTU), which serve 134 cities in the state.

According to the Metropolitan Transport Secretariat (STM), to which EMTU is linked, the process of adapting the metropolitan intercity transport fleet began in May of this year and was successfully concluded in the last week of June.

In this way, users can pay for the ticket by placing credit and debit cards in the validator directly at the turnstile of more than 4,400 buses of the metropolitan transport of SP. In addition, compatible cell phones and smartwatches can also be used.

Buses with this payment option received stickers on the validators and doors to indicate the possibility of charging by approximation and the accepted credit and debit cards, which must be Mastercard, Visa and Elo.

It is worth mentioning that the EMTU lines serve the metropolitan region of São Paulo and municipalities such as Grande ABCDM, Rio Grande da Serra, Ribeirão Pires, Cotia, São Roque, Taboão da Serra, Itapecerica da Serra, Embu das Artes, Juquitiba, São Lourenço and others.

The option to pay the fare by approximation is also available, in a pilot format, at 13 Metro, CPTM and ViaMobilidade stations. This possibility is offered through Autopass, a mobility and electronic ticketing solutions company.

So far, this form of boarding is available at 13 stations:
